A vital lifeline for women across Surrey, the Grow and Glow mental health support group is celebrating its first anniversary. Founded in Epsom in 2024 by Charley Moore, the group emerged from a personal need – a lack of accessible, female-only peer support for women grappling with mental health challenges.

Charley's experience highlighted a significant gap in local mental health services. Many women felt isolated and struggled to find spaces where they could openly and honestly share their experiences without judgment. Recognizing this need, she took the initiative to create Grow and Glow, a safe and supportive environment specifically designed for women to connect, share, and heal.

“It all started with a simple desire to create a space where women could feel seen and heard,” explains Charley. “I know firsthand how powerful it can be to connect with others who understand what you’re going through. Grow and Glow is about fostering those connections and empowering women to prioritize their mental wellbeing.”

What Does Grow and Glow Offer?

Grow and Glow isn’t just about talking; it's about holistic wellbeing. The group incorporates a range of activities to support mental health, including:

  • Peer-to-peer support: A safe and confidential space to share experiences and offer encouragement.
  • Mindfulness and relaxation techniques: Learning practical tools to manage stress and anxiety.
  • Creative expression: Opportunities for journaling, art, and other creative outlets.
  • Guest speakers: Inviting mental health professionals and wellness experts to share insights and guidance.

A Growing Community & Positive Impact

Over the past year, Grow and Glow has grown from a small gathering to a thriving community of women supporting each other. Members consistently praise the group for its welcoming atmosphere, the genuine connections formed, and the positive impact it has had on their mental wellbeing.

“I was feeling so lost and alone before I found Grow and Glow,” shares one member. “It’s been a game-changer for me. I’ve made some incredible friends and feel so much more confident in managing my mental health.”

Looking Ahead

Charley and the Grow and Glow team have ambitious plans for the future, including expanding the group's reach and offering more specialized workshops. They are actively seeking funding and volunteers to help them continue their vital work.
