Tsunoda, driving for Visa Cash App RB, described his lap as feeling strong, but ultimately not enough to progress past the first segment of qualifying. "I felt like I had a pretty good lap, but obviously, it wasn't good enough," he stated. "We were close, just a few tenths, but it's a long way up the grid from P20. We need to understand why we couldn’t find that extra bit of performance."
